THE WELL

Rammulu a young man who lives in a remote village of Telangana. He lives with his 65 years old grandmother. He works as a milk delivery boy for a dairy farm. He works 7pm daily in that dairy farm and reaches home by 7:30 and he gives medicines to his grandma and after she sleeps he eats his dinner and sleeps and that’s how his day ends. He had no friends or relationships. His life revolved around the dairy farm and his grandmother. But he never complains about his rather he is very much happy with what he has he loves his grandma who took the responsibility of raising him from the time his parents dies due to an unfortunate accident and now he thinks that it is his responsibility to take care of his grandma.

One night at 7pm when he was returning back to his house from the dairy farm on his way in middle of road he hears a strange noise, no it wasn’t a scream of anyone, it also wasn’t anyone calling him but it was strange sound it hooks him up but ignores it and moves forward and reaches his home. Next night at same time as he was passing through the same route he passes yesterday and it were the same sounds but this time it felt like some were making those sounds and he gets curious and parks his cycle and gets down check if someone were there but there were no one and he tries calling by asking “who there?” but he gets no reply so he gets back to his bicycle and starts peddling back his way home everything was fine till then. But next night at same time and at the same place he hears the same sound but this time louder, heavier and clear. But this time he came prepared with an axe and torchlight so, he parks his cycles and goes inside the woods to check this time and as he keeps the sounds keeps getting lower and lower and suddenly they stop and he sees a well there and he was shocked seeing that well because he never thought someone would build this kind of in middle of forest. He then slowly steps towards the well and peeks inside it to check if someone inside it was empty and dark no water noting just empty but suddenly then he heard someone running into the woods and he gets slightly scared and he runs back towards his cycle and peddles towards his home. Seeing him his grandma askes “what happened and why you look tensed?” for which Rammulu replies “Nothing much, did you take your pills?” She says “yes, go eat your dinner Rammulu” saying that she goes to sleep and Rammulu puts rice and continues eating but he can’t get over what happened near that well. He completes his dinner and goes to sleep and stops thinking about that well. Night at 2AM Rammulu wakes up to drink some water as he woke up notices that his grandma was not in her bed he gets tensed and he takes his torch light and searches for her. As he was moving around the village he accidentally come across that well route and he hears those noises again this tie he tries to ignore them to move forward but he also sees something is glowing there so he goes into the woods following that light and it was coming from that well and near that well he notices his grandma she was standing near that well, he approaches her and ask her what is she doing here for which she doesn’t reply anything he continually keep asking the same thing but she does not utter a word. Irritated by her behavior Rammulu tries to grab her but he could not move her from there no matter how much strength he used which scared him. Finally she opens her mouth telling “Rammulu this is where I saw your mother and father dying and I will also see you die today”. Listening to those words Rammulu was stunned to speak and no words were coming out of his mouth and his legs were frozen and suddenly a rage of fire comes out of the well and Rammulu can hear the screams of two people from that well it was his father and mother. At this point he was in the state of shock and disbelief and he slowly moves forward towards the well and when he was near it suddenly someone pushes him and he falls inside it and comes out of it he does not understand anything how come in fall into well and came out of it and he sees around him everything was empty he could not hear anything it was pin drop silence. Then he saw his grandma sitting near a tree he slowly moves towards her he doesn’t even know what is happening here he calls her and she tells in chilling voice “so ready to die” now it wasn’t even his grandma voice and listening to that he falls on to the ground and she takes an axe and move towards him with a demonic smile, he cannot even shake his hand like someone are holding him. Then she tells “no one comes here and one goes from here” telling that she hits him in his head. Then Rammulu finally wakes up heavily breathing seeing around he was still in his house he signs in a relief thinking it was a bad dream. Then the same chilling voice comes from behind it was his grandma standing their with a axe on her hand and creepy smile on her face.
